On 28th and 29th March 2023, the University of Macerata hosted the kick-off meeting of IN-WORK, Inclusive Communities at Work.
The project consortium is made up of the University of Macerata, which is the lead partner, the University of Rovira i Virgili, Jamk University of Applied Sciences and the European Universities Continuing Education Network.
The kick-off meeting allowed all partners to meet for the first time, build team spirit and develop a common understanding of the project’s objectives, which is essential to lay the foundations for a very successful project.
The IN-WORK project aims to strengthen the role of universities as drivers of inclusive culture by developing and testing a model of intervention focused on relations between the university and its community. Through the use of work-integrated learning activities, which include work-based learning (internships and traineeships), the project will support people with special needs to undertake meaningful learning experiences in the world of work.
This project has a strong potential of creating synergies with different fields of education (particularly upper secondary schools), training and youth. The main innovation is on the idea that social inclusion should be pursued through a community-based action, initiated and promoted by the universities in their educational role starting from the way of teaching and learning. Each of the partners plays a key role in accomplishing the project goals and the kick-off meeting undoubtedly has strengthened their collaboration.
