The Italian team of the IN-WORK project, with the collaboration of Manpower, organized a career orientation webinar aimed at young people and university students with special educational needs on 9 May 2024. Professors from the University of Macerata and experts from Manpower worked with youth to develop a common vision of the job market and the opportunities. The webinar aimed to increase students’ awareness of their skills, desires and plans regarding work, encouraging them to recognize any gaps that need to be filled to get their ambitions.
Prof. Marchegiani, Delegate for Placement and Career Orientation, opened the proceedings, bringing greetings from the Rector, Prof. John McCourt and Prof. Catia Giaconi, Vice Rector with delegation for the Third and Fourth Mission as well as Scientific Director of the In-Work Project, demonstrating the University’s attention to the topic of the transition from the world of University to the world of work for all students, in particular for those who need specific support.
The youth and the group of experts worked on CVs and necessary preparation to best face a selection interview. Dr. De Lucia, Manpower, provided an insight into the world of work and today’s opportunities, urging students to orient themselves to their aspirations. Doctors Rizzo and Pezzolesi focused more on the C.V. and preparation for a selection interview, stimulating students to reflect on their inclinations and skills.
The students interacted with interest, asking questions, and sharing their experiences. The feedback received at the end of the webinar demonstrates the importance of working on these issues, supporting young people in particular in their awareness of themselves and the world of work and guiding them in acquiring the required transversal skills.
